Powering India’s renewable future, Jupiter International will invest ₹109 billion in a mega solar plant at Nagpur, creating more than 8000 jobs and boosting domestic solar manufacturing.
Jupiter International Limited, a Kolkata-based photovoltaic solar cell manufacturer, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government to establish a large-scale solar manufacturing facility in Butibori, Nagpur.
The proposed investment of ₹109 billion will support the creation of a vertically integrated plant covering the entire solar value chain. The project will include wafer production, advanced solar cell manufacturing and solar module assembly. The company claims that this will make it one of the most comprehensive facilities in the country.
Furthermore, the new unit will create over 8300 jobs and accelerate industrial development in Maharashtra’s renewable energy ecosystem. According to Jupiter, it is also expected to strengthen India’s position in solar technology while reducing reliance on imported components.
“This investment reflects our long-term commitment to building India’s renewable energy future through technology, scale and regional empowerment. We are thankful to the Government of Maharashtra for their support and guidance,” said Alok Garodia, Managing Director, Jupiter International Limited.
Jupiter already operates two manufacturing units in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, each with a 500MW capacity. Together, they provide 1GW of installed solar cell production. The upcoming Nagpur facility will expand this capacity and reinforce the company’s vision of building a fully integrated solar power platform.
