Including Amara Raja’s gigafactory, Ashwini Vaishnaw launched four electronics manufacturing units in Telangana. The projects, with an investment of ₹105.74 billion, will create 19,200 jobs.
On Saturday, the Union Minister for Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, inaugurated four manufacturing units at the electronics manufacturing cluster (EMC) in Divitipally, Mahabubnagar District, Telangana.

The event marked the foundation-laying of Amara Raja’s gigafactory-1, as well as ground-breaking ceremonies for Lohum’s critical minerals refining and battery recycling plant, Scell Energy’s cell casing manufacturing unit, and Altmin’s first LFP-CAM Giga Factory.
The Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY) launched the Modified Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) Scheme to boost India’s electronics and EV manufacturing sectors. Under this initiative, a 377.65-acre EMC project in Divitipally was approved last year.
Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies (ARACT), the anchor unit, will establish a giga factory on 262 acres, with plans for a 16GW cell manufacturing and 5GW battery pack plant. The investment is expected to total ₹95 billion over five years, generating direct employment for 4500 people and an additional 4500 indirect jobs.

The EMC is fully occupied, with 307.47 acres allocated to four companies: Amara Raja, Altmin, Lohum, and Scell Energy. Together, they plan to invest ₹105.74 billion and create nearly 19,200 jobs, contributing to the region’s economic development.
In his address, Shri Vaishnaw highlighted the government’s commitment to electric mobility, stressing the importance of developing infrastructure and promoting the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). He also expressed support for Indian innovations in manufacturing, anticipating success for the regional projects.
The ceremony was attended by Telangana’s Minister for IT, Electronics, and Industries, D. Sridhar Babu; MP Aruna D K; and Y. Srinivas Reddy, along with senior officials from the state and industry leaders.
