As global semiconductor sales surged 25.1% in the third quarter of 2025, Europe gets reassurance from increasing memory and chip demand.

Semiconductor sales across Europe reflected a steady performance in the third quarter of 2025, recording a 7.2% increase over the previous quarter. According to a recent update by the European Semiconductor Industry Association (ESIA), total sales in this quarter reached US$14.07 billion, up 6% year-on-year compared with Q3 2024.
The growth was mainly fuelled by a 17.3% quarterly jump in memory chip sales and a 7.1% increase in analogue chip sales. These categories reportedly contributed the most to Europe’s overall semiconductor rebound after a period of mixed performance earlier in the year.
Globally, the semiconductor market expanded at an even faster pace. Total worldwide sales hit US$208.4 billion in Q3 2025, representing a 15.8% rise over Q2 and a 25.1% increase compared to Q3 2024, as reported by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS).
Among the broader regions, the Americas led the surge with a 22.2% quarterly rise, followed by the Asia-Pacific region at 19.2%, China at 10.2%, and Europe at 7.2%.
By application type, global sales of application-specific chips rose 14.3% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ), driven by robust demand across multiple sectors. Sales for wired communication chips increased 23.3%, wireless communication grew 16.2%, and computers and peripherals climbed 14.7% compared with the previous quarter.
When measured in local currency, exchange rate movements slightly tempered Europe’s growth. In euro terms, sales reached €12.035 billion, representing a 4.1% quarter-on-quarter rise but a 0.4% decline compared with the same period last year.
ESIA highlighted that the global semiconductor industry is expected to experience a substantial recovery through 2025, with the memory and communications segments leading the charge. However, Europe’s slower pace relative to the Americas and Asia underlines continued competitive pressure across regions.
