Hitachi’s Vantara Virtual Storage Platform Available In Azure Marketplace

Microsoft Azure Marketplace listing of Hitachi Vantara’s storage platform lets customers deploy and manage storage solutions.

Hitachi Vantara has listed its software-defined storage, called Virtual Storage Platform One Software-Defined Storage (VSP One SDS), on the Microsoft Azure Marketplace. The listing enables procurement and deployment of the software on Azure under standard marketplace terms, creating a cloud on-ramp for existing VSP One users.

The company states these features can reduce cloud storage costs by up to 40%. That puts the focus on spend control and operations.

Octavian Tanase, chief product officer, Hitachi Vantara said “By bringing VSP One to Microsoft Azure, we’re helping Azure customers extend the value of their existing investments while introducing new levels of resiliency, efficiency and simplicity. Our partner ecosystem plays a critical role in enabling that flexibility by helping organizations move at their own pace while keeping costs and complexity in check.”

The platform supports migration, testing and scaling of workloads between on-premises and Azure. That reduces the need to refactor applications, which connects the software to existing enterprise stacks.

The release adds Azure support to VSP One SDS for block, file and object workloads. Customers can manage cloud and on-premises storage through one control plane using the VSP 360 management layer, linking day-to-day operations to a single set of policies.

Hitachi Vantara positions VSP One as a single foundation across environments. The architecture targets continuous availability with a stated 99.999% uptime objective, which anchors the business-continuity use case.

For operations teams, the Azure support centralises policy, automation and visibility through VSP 360. That links storage provisioning and protection across sites without adding parallel toolchains.

Their roadmap is to focus on unifying data operations across distributed environments, where databases are spread across multiple nodes, allowing access to data from local and remote. The Azure integration extends earlier releases that added object and block capabilities and the VSP 360 control plane.
