Focus placed on strengthening India’s role in the global semiconductor and AI ecosystem through deeper Intel partnerships.
India’s Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, held a virtual meeting with Intel CEO Lip Bu Tan to discuss the company’s semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) plans in India, as New Delhi intensifies efforts to position itself as a global technology and innovation hub.
The interaction focused on Intel’s strategic initiatives in India, particularly its potential role in advancing the country’s semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem and supporting the IndiaAI initiative, the government’s flagship program to accelerate AI development and adoption.
Kwatra, in a post on X, said he had the “pleasure to interact with Lip Bu Tan, CEO of Intel, to discuss Intel’s initiatives and plans for India operations in coordination with the Government’s goal to develop semiconductor and AI industry in India under the aegis of India Semiconductor Mission and IndiaAI.”
The meeting comes ahead of the India-AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled to be held in New Delhi in February next year, where several global tech leaders are expected to outline their investment and collaboration roadmaps.
Intel, which has been operating in India for over two decades, has made significant contributions to the country’s chip design and R&D ecosystem. The dialogue signals growing collaboration between India and major US tech firms as the government pushes to strengthen domestic chip manufacturing, attract global investment, and build an AI-driven digital economy.
