Ahead of ‘Invest Karnataka 2025’, NXP is set to invest ₹84 billion in Bengaluru’s R&D, propelling Karnataka as a global innovation hub, said minister MB Patil.
Dutch semiconductor manufacturer and designer NXP has revealed plans to increase its research and development (R&D) investment in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Over the next five years, the company intends to invest a substantial amount of ₹84 billion (approximately $1 billion) in R&D activities within the state.
This announcement was made during a roadshow in the Netherlands by Karnataka’s Minister for Large and Medium Industries, MB Patil. The roadshow aimed to attract investments for the state ahead of its event, ‘Invest Karnataka 2025’.
In a meeting with Maurice Geraets, the executive director of NXP, Patil highlighted the importance of Karnataka in strengthening global R&D capabilities and shared information on X.
Furthermore, Patil engaged with senior executives from Philips about the growth of its Bengaluru Innovation Campus, which received an investment of ₹4.45 billion (€50 million) in 2023.
During the talks, Patil encouraged Philips to consider establishing a manufacturing facility in Karnataka. Additionally, Signify (formerly Philips Lighting) outlined its ongoing projects in the state, while the Karnataka government encouraged the company to invest in line with the ‘China plus one’ strategy.
Minister Patil emphasised that the roadshow was designed to highlight Karnataka’s strong global appeal in semiconductors, renewable energy, and advanced manufacturing, positioning the state as a leading destination for international investors.
During the roadshow, Patil was accompanied by senior officials from the Karnataka State Department of Commerce and Industries.
