The project timeline yet to be disclosed, Servotech is set to install a 7.8MW grid-connected solar rooftop system across the Rangiya Division of the Northeast Frontier Railway.
Servotech Renewable Power System Ltd has been awarded a ₹336 million contract by the Northeast Frontier Railway to install a 7.8MW grid-connected solar rooftop system.
The contract includes the installation of solar power systems across multiple buildings in the Rangiya Division, along with a five-year annual maintenance contract (AMC).
According to the company, the project is part of the railway’s broader plan to increase the use of renewable energy in its operations. The installation aims to support sustainability goals by reducing the division’s dependence on conventional electricity sources.
Sarika Bhatia, Director of Servotech, described the project as a notable opportunity to implement renewable energy solutions within government infrastructure. She stated that the AMC would help ensure long-term efficiency of the installations.
“We are committed to supporting India’s transition towards a greener future, and projects like these are vital in achieving that goal,” she said.
This project follows Indian Railways’ ongoing efforts to adopt renewable energy technologies as part of its environmental strategy. It has previously outlined goals to source a significant portion of its power needs from solar and wind energy in the coming years.
Servotech, listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), manufactures solar and electric vehicle charging solutions. The company has undertaken various public and private sector projects in recent years, which include solar installations for East Coast Railway, government buildings in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, and agricultural solar pump schemes under Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA).
The project timeline and specific implementation details have not yet been disclosed.
