High-Level Executives Announce Their Departure from Stellantis

This declaration was made just half a year after Mahajan’s elevation to the position of Sales and Marketing Director for the ASEAN markets at Stellantis. Mittal has been Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Stellantis since October 2020.

Sunil Mittal and Nipun Mahajan have stepped down from their roles as Vice President of sales and marketing and Head of Sales and Marketing at Stellantis.

This news comes just six months after Mahajan’s promotion to the role of Sales and Marketing Director for the ASEAN markets at Stellantis. Mahajan previously held the position of Brand Director at Jeep India from June 2021 to June 2023, significantly contributing to the brand’s strategy during Stellantis’ leadership overhaul in India. His career also includes roles as Vice President at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles starting in September 2016 and Sales Director at Harley-Davidson Motor Company for nearly three years. Additionally, Mahajan has had tenures at Porsche India, Volkswagen, and Honda Cars India.

Mittal has been with Stellantis as Vice President- Sales & Marketing since October 2020. His experience includes over 12 years at General Motors, culminating in his role as Director- SEA Sales & Distributor Operations. He also served as Vice President- Network & Business Development at Mahindra Group for over seven years, with previous positions at Ford and Royal Enfield.

In April of this year, Stellantis, which operates under the Jeep and Citroen brands in India, appointed Aditya Jairaj from US Nissan as the group’s deputy managing director. In a recent interview, Jairaj discussed plans to open over 80 new dealerships in India by the end of 2023.

The merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and Groupe PSA in June 2021 resulted in the integration of their Indian operations under the Stellantis umbrella. In October, Yves Bonnefont, the company’s Chief Software Officer, announced plans to hire approximately 1,100 software engineers in India over the next 12 to 18 months, positioning the country as a global centre for cockpit technology development.

Additionally, Stellantis’ joint venture with Taiwan’s Foxconn, MobileDrive, focuses on cockpit software development. They have recently established a new office in Bengaluru and aim to hire around 100 software engineers by the end of 2023. This initiative seeks to leverage local talent and serve not only Stellantis but potentially other global car manufacturers.
