India’s electronics sector is flourishing rapidly and require to meet demand of 2.8mn professionals by 2020. “The proposed National Electronic Policy would provide the roadmap for meeting this requirement along with the attendant requirements of a sector that has had a transformational impact on society the world over,” said J Satyanarayana, the federal secretary of electronics and information technology.
Inaugurating the ‘SecurIT 2012’ international seminar at Amritapuri Campus, he said the electronics industry had generated enormous benefits through technological advancement in India. It also brought about many challenges, particularly in the realm of cyber security.
The federal electronics and IT department had already initiated measures to bring about the needed cooperation between the three sectors.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the conference, he said that an investment of Rs100bn had been decided “in principle” to promote the electronics industry. Foreign investment and collaboration had also been agreed upon the details of which were being worked out.
