Antolin Launches Pune Plant For Lighting, HMI Systems, And Electronics

The new plant will manufacture integrated lighting, HMI systems, and electronic solutions for top vehicle makers in India, tapping into the growing market for smart, advanced surfaces and functional lighting.

Antolin, a player in interior solutions, celebrated the inauguration of its new facility in Pune on January 18, 2023. As outlined in its transformation plan, this latest development aligns with Antolin’s strategic objective of emerging in high-growth potential markets. Marking its foray into the Indian market, the Pune plant is Antolin’s first in the country, dedicated to lighting, HMI systems, and electronics.

The inauguration was attended by Ernesto Antolin, Chairman of Antolin, alongside company clients, local authorities, and other Antolin executives. This expansion enhances the company’s industrial and technological prowess in one of the world’s key automotive markets, positioning its technology solutions business as a catalyst for future growth.

Situated in Chakan, Pune – a hub for major automotive manufacturers, the new centre is strategically placed in one of India’s most industrialized areas. The facility, spanning 3,200 square meters for manufacturing, assembly, and office space, will focus on producing cutting-edge solutions and components for key Indian clients, including Tata Motors, Suzuki, Toyota, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Skoda-Volkswagen. It is expected to create jobs for 200 skilled workers within two years.

The plant’s establishment goes hand in hand with Antolin’s commitment to enhancing its technology solutions segment in India. A dedicated team from the Lighting, HMI, and Electronics Business Unit has been formed specifically for the Indian market, aiming to meet the rising demand for smart advanced surfaces and functional lighting. This initiative enables Antolin to support local vehicle manufacturers in crafting more sophisticated interiors to enhance the passenger experience.

Notable projects at the new factory include ambient lighting for Mahindra’s new electric vehicle platform and a Central Touch Control Panel for Tata Motors’ Safari and Harrier SUVs, showcasing integration of smart surface technology, multi-colour ambient lighting, and electronic components.

Ernesto Antolin emphasized the strategic importance of the new Chakan plant and the specialized team, highlighting their role in adapting to customer needs and fostering innovation and technological advancement. The move is part of Antolin’s broader strategy to expand in Asia, particularly in India, which is viewed as a critical market for regional growth and technological development.

As part of its 2023-2026 transformation plan, Antolin aims to establish a sustainable and profitable growth trajectory, focusing on expanding its presence in Asia, especially in India. The company already boasts a significant industrial and sales network in India, with nine industrial centres and two technical-commercial offices, employing over 2,000 highly skilled professionals.

Grupo Antolin, with a 20-year history in India, operates six plants across various states, supplying interior components to major automotive companies. The company leads the market in overhead systems, holding about 75% market share in India. Grupo Antolin’s product range extends to door panels, ambient lighting, and various other interior components, reflecting its comprehensive expertise in automotive interiors.
