Tata Motors Launches Ultra EV 7M With 160km Range

The Ultra EV 7M, a 21-seater electric vehicle, features a 213kW electric motor and a 200kWh Li-ion battery that is IP67-rated. It boasts a maximum range of 160km on a single charge and offers fast charging that can achieve a full charge in just two and a half hours.

Tata Motors, the leading commercial vehicle manufacturer in India, has presented a series of advanced mass mobility solutions at Prawaas 4.0. This three-day biennial event, which was held at the BIEC in Bengaluru, focuses on promoting safe, smart, and sustainable mass mobility solutions.

During the event, Tata Motors revealed its latest innovation, the Tata Ultra EV 7M, an intra-city electric bus that emits zero emissions. Designed to meet the specific demands of urban mass transit, the 21-seater Ultra EV 7M is equipped with a 213kW electric motor and an IP67-rated 200kWh Li-ion battery. It boasts a range of up to 160km per charge and supports fast charging, allowing it to reach full capacity in just two and a half hours. The vehicle is crafted to navigate through narrow city lanes and dense traffic with ease.

The Ultra EV 7M features a fully electric drivetrain enhanced with cutting-edge safety technologies such as electronic braking systems and electronic stability control. It also includes an Automatic Passenger Counter and adheres to high safety and security measures with its Intelligent Transport System (ITS). Additionally, it utilizes regenerative braking technology to improve its efficiency and extend its range.

Anand S, Vice President and Head of the Commercial Passenger Vehicle Business at Tata Motors, discussed the launch by highlighting how the theme of Prawaas 4.0, focusing on safe, smart, and sustainable mobility, perfectly matches their company’s goals. The event serves as a platform for engaging with key stakeholders and showcasing their innovative approaches. He expressed particular enthusiasm about introducing the Ultra EV 7M, designed to serve both large cities and smaller urban regions, thus addressing the varied demands of their customers. Their participation in Prawaas 4.0 underscores their dedication to providing innovative, efficient, and sustainable mobility solutions that enhance profitability and earning opportunities for their clients.

Tata Motors is a frontrunner in the electric bus market, having deployed over 2,900 electric buses across India that have collectively travelled more than 16 crore kilometres. The company is also pioneering hydrogen fuel cell transport technologies within the nation.

Furthermore, Tata Motors is focused on expanding its commercial vehicle (CV) portfolio with an array of alternative fuel vehicles, aiming to reduce operational costs and increase profitability for operators. The Fleet Edge, a sophisticated connected vehicle platform, enhances fleet management, vehicle uptime, and safety.
