The EV Urban Concept represents Honda’s vision for urban transportation in the near future.
At the EICMA show in Milan, Italy, Honda has taken a significant step forward in expanding its electric vehicle offerings by unveiling two new fully electric bike concepts, named EV Fun and EV Urban. This event serves as a prominent stage for global automakers to share their visions for electric mobility and introduce upcoming products.
The EV Fun Concept is designed to deliver the thrill of electric riding with performance comparable to a mid-sized internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycle. As Honda’s inaugural electric sports model, the EV Fun is on track for commercial release in 2025. Despite being at the concept stage, advanced elements like finalized brakes and suspension indicate significant progress in development. Its futuristic, geometric design and premium features, such as a single-sided swingarm and a distinctive headlight setup reminiscent of the Ola Roadster, position it well within the high-end electric bike market. Honda also notes that the EV Fun will offer a cruising range of over 100 kilometres8 and support fast charging with a CCS2 quick charger, which is commonly used for cars.
Conversely, the EV Urban Concept is still in the early stages of conception with few details available about its specs. However, Honda describes the EV Urban as embodying its vision of urban mobility, featuring cutting-edge technology, superb design, and an in-house developed battery. The concept’s silhouette draws comparisons to premium electric scooters like the BMW CE 04, suggesting it will target a similar high-end market.
These introductions align with Honda’s broader environmental goals, aiming for carbon neutrality across all motorcycle products by the 2040s and overall carbon neutrality by 2050. As part of its strategy, Honda has designated 2024 as its entry point into the electric bike market, with plans to expand and grow this segment through 2026 and beyond.
Honda’s commitment to electrification reflects its ambition to meet diverse consumer needs and accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles. With these latest additions, Honda is not only advancing its electric portfolio but also strengthening its position to become a leader in the global electric two-wheeler market.
