STPI Dehradun has also supported startup development through the Next Generation Incubation Scheme (NGIS).
Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has inaugurated a new 30,000 sq. ft. incubation facility at IT Park, Sahastradhara Road, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, to support technology startups and strengthen the state’s IT and IT-enabled services (ITeS) ecosystem.
The facility was inaugurated by Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology and Commerce and Industry, Government of India, in the presence of Pradeep Batra, Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister for IT and Good Governance, and Ganesh Joshi, Uttarakhand Agriculture Minister.
Spread across four floors, the facility offers semi-furnished office spaces, high-speed internet connectivity, an air-conditioned and eco-friendly working environment, an auditorium, two meeting rooms, two conference rooms and a Network Operations Centre (NOC). The infrastructure is intended to support collaboration, product development and business growth among technology enterprises.
Addressing the gathering, Prasada highlighted the importance of technological self-reliance and domestic manufacturing capabilities, particularly in semiconductors and electronics. He said the new facility would provide startups with an environment to develop innovative solutions, attract investment and generate employment. He also noted that Uttarakhand has more than 1,700 recognised startups.
Batra said the facility would help create an enabling environment for technology, innovation and entrepreneurship in the state, contributing to Uttarakhand’s economic development and India’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Established in 2001 with support from the Government of Uttarakhand, STPI Dehradun has been promoting the state’s IT/ITeS industry through incubation services and the implementation of Software Technology Parks (STP), Non-STP and Electronic Hardware Technology Park (EHTP) schemes. Its existing incubation facility at IT Park, Dehradun, offers approximately 19,533 sq. ft. of super built-up space and supports multiple IT/ITeS units.
STPI Dehradun has also supported startup development through the Next Generation Incubation Scheme (NGIS). Under the scheme, 52 startups have been selected through challenge programmes. Of these, 17 have received seed funding totalling ₹4.25 crore, while more than 26 have received stipends of ₹90,000 each.
The new facility expands STPI’s incubation infrastructure in Uttarakhand, with the aim of supporting technology-led entrepreneurship, product innovation, intellectual property creation and employment generation across the state.
