Mobec Initiates Recycling And Circular Economy For Sustainable Mobility

Mobec’s latest strategy for battery refurbishment, material recovery, and energy storage supports India’s 2030 goals for electric vehicles by aiming to minimise waste and decrease reliance on resources.

Mobec, an EV charging solutions provider, has launched new initiatives emphasising recycling and circular economy practices to foster a cleaner, more sustainable future. These initiatives align with the Government of India’s 2030 goals for sustainable mobility. Mobec’s program addresses issues such as battery waste and resource dependency through practices like Battery Second Life refurbishment, Black Mass production, and the development of sustainable energy storage systems. These efforts are intended to contribute to India’s environmental goals and establish higher standards in the industry.

The traditional methods of battery disposal and heavy reliance on raw material extraction have led to increased environmental degradation and resource shortages. Mobec’s recycling efforts are designed to establish a closed-loop system for battery materials, which decreases the dependence on mining and prolongs the life cycles of batteries.

A primary component of Mobec’s strategy is its Battery Second Life and Refurbishment program, which rejuvenates used batteries that have reduced power output for secondary applications. This refurbishment not only extends the life of batteries but also curtails the need for new battery production, potentially lowering the cost and enhancing the accessibility of EV technology.

Additionally, Mobec’s Black Mass Production initiative recycles batteries to extract valuable metals like lithium, cobalt, and nickel, which are then reused in new battery production. Mobec either uses these materials internally or supplies them to other companies, fostering collaborative sustainability efforts and minimizing resource wastage.

Mobec’s approach also emphasises the conservation of resources and reducing reliance on newly extracted materials by focusing on recycling and reusing existing materials. Each repurposed or recycled battery aids in creating a more sustainable ecosystem and lessening the environmental footprint of the company.

Moreover, Mobec has introduced Energy Storage Systems (ESS), which store energy from renewable sources. These systems are versatile and applicable in various scenarios, including EVs, electronic devices, lighting, and grid storage, promoting energy efficiency across multiple sectors. This technology aids in balancing the supply and demand of clean energy, ensuring its availability where needed most.
