Enhancing national AI infrastructure, MeitY shortlists seven firms to supply 15,000 GPUs under IndiaAI Mission, via global cloud partnerships and subsidised compute for startups and academia.
India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has shortlisted seven firms for the second round of its ambitious AI Mission GPU (graphics processing unit) procurement.
The companies will make technical presentations of their proposals on 14 May, moving one step closer to securing government contracts to build national AI infrastructure.
The selected firms include: Netmagic IT Services (NTT Global Data Centers), Cyfuture, Sify Digital Services, Vensysco Technologies, Locuz Enterprise Solutions, Yotta Data Services, and Ishan Infotech.
This procurement round aims to secure approximately 15,000 GPUs, significantly ramping up national AI capabilities. Thes GPUs will support startups, research institutions, and academia by providing subsidised access to high-performance AI compute resources.
Many of the shortlisted companies have partnered with global cloud giants to fulfil the requirements. For instance, Vensysco and Locuz are collaborating with Amazon Web Services (AWS). Ishan Infotech is aligned with Oracle, and Netmagic is working with Google Cloud.
Among the detailed proposals, Vensysco Technologies has offered a combined package of 2,300 GPUs, including 2,000 Nvidia H100s, 100 AWS Trainium 1 chips, and 200 AWS Inferentia 2 units.
Locuz—now owned by US-based SHI International—emerged as one of the lowest bidders in the previous round. Meanwhile, in April, MeitY assigned AI workloads to Yotta, E2E Networks, and NxtGen to provide affordable compute access, with prices reported below $1 per hour.
These tender forms part of the government’s ₹100 billion IndiaAI Mission, launched in January, with a significant focus on creating large-scale GPU capabilities. It aims to reduce dependency on foreign infrastructure by creating indigenous capacity through public-private partnerships.
The final selection following the May presentations is expected to shape India’s AI infrastructure roadmap. Officials believe this push will give Indian developers and researchers a competitive edge globally, while laying the groundwork for sovereign AI capability.
