Elektrobit, Foxconn Partner To Develop AI-Driven EV Software Platform

Aiming to build the future of electric cars on a smarter, AI-driven backbone, Elektrobit and Foxconn team up to transform EV software development.

Automotive software company Elektrobit has entered into a joint development agreement with Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn) to create EV.OS, a flexible software platform designed to support the development of software-defined electric vehicles (EVs).

According to a joint statement, the companies are focused on reducing system complexity, lowering the total cost of ownership, and creating scalable solutions to support future mobility services.

The EV.OS system will include a reference electronic/electrical architecture (EV.EEA), an operating system, and an application layer. It is being developed to streamline the design and production of EVs while enabling third-party integration and high-performance computing.

The company clarified that EV.OS has been designed with flexibility in mind, which automotive manufacturers can use to accelerate innovation without having to start from scratch every time.

The platform will support a service-oriented architecture and offer a semantic vehicle API, enabling compatibility with external applications and services. Development is set to be supported by a virtualised testing environment and a continuous integration/delivery framework.

Foxconn, best known for its large-scale electronics manufacturing, sees the partnership as a strategic move to expand into the mobility sector.

Maria Anhalt, CEO of Elektrobit, noted, “By combining Elektrobit’s automotive software expertise with Foxconn’s manufacturing and hardware innovation, we are creating a scalable platform that reduces complexity, shortens development cycles and supports future mobility business models.”

While no timeline has been provided for commercial deployment, both companies emphasised the long-term nature of the partnership.
