Rambus Names Shankarnarayan Bhat As Senior Engineering Director

With over two decades in SoC design leadership, Shankarnarayan Bhat joins Rambus to head MIC-IDC engineering, strengthening its global semiconductor development capabilities.

Rambus has appointed Shankarnarayan Bhat as Senior Director of Engineering. He will lead the company’s MIC-IDC engineering organisation.

Bhat brings more than two decades of experience in system-on-chip (SoC) development and large-scale engineering management. At Rambus, he will oversee engineering teams working across multiple stages of the silicon lifecycle.

Before joining Rambus, Bhat served as Senior Director of Engineering at Analog Devices India, where he led global teams responsible for digital SoC design. His responsibilities covered RTL development, design verification, design-for-test, physical design, emulation, system modelling and post-silicon validation across consumer, ASIC and energy-focused products.

Earlier, he spent over five years at Intel Corporation as Senior Director of Engineering. There, he led design verification and DFT functions on more than ten projects spanning server, automotive and edge-IoT (Internet of Things) applications.

Bhat also spent more than a decade at Qualcomm, where he held multiple leadership roles in engineering. His work included pre- and post-silicon verification, simulations, power and security verification, emulation, ATE testing and customer return analysis. He played a role across several modem, mobile and high-performance computing programmes.

His early career included nearly seven years at Wipro Technologies, where he worked on Texas Instruments projects in the United States. His responsibilities ranged from manufacturing testing and silicon debug to automotive microcontroller validation and yield improvement.

Over his career, Bhat has contributed to the delivery of more than 70 SoCs across healthcare, automotive, server, IoT, CPU and mobile domains. He has worked on advanced technology nodes from 65nm to 5nm and has managed engineering organisations exceeding 300 members.

Bhat holds a bachelor’s degree in electronics and communication engineering from Karnatak University. His appointment comes as Rambus continues to expand its engineering capabilities to support complex, high-volume semiconductor products.
