Nvidia, ABB and Standard Bots Drive Next Wave of Industrial AI

Robotics companies are expanding capabilities as manufacturers embrace smarter automation solutions.

Manufacturers are ramping up investments in automation technologies as they prepare for the next phase of industrial production, driving fresh partnerships, funding activity and product launches across the robotics sector.

The growing focus on robotics and artificial intelligence will be on full display at Automate 2026 in Chicago next week, where more than 50,000 attendees are expected at North America’s largest automation event.

Among the key developments, Nvidia has expanded its partnership with South Korea’s Doosan Group to advance physical AI, robotics and smart factory infrastructure. By combining Nvidia’s computing platforms with Doosan’s industrial expertise, the companies aim to develop intelligent robots capable of operating autonomously in complex environments. The collaboration will also extend to Bobcat-branded construction, agriculture and material-handling equipment, enabling greater automation and environmental awareness.

Meanwhile, industrial robotics startup Standard Bots has secured $200 million in a Series C funding round, achieving a $1 billion valuation. The company plans to use the capital to expand manufacturing capacity and accelerate deployment of its U.S.-made robotic arms. Standard Bots’ physical AI technology enables robots to learn tasks through demonstration, broadening the scope of industrial processes that can be automated.

ABB Robotics is also advancing physical AI through a partnership with California-based bionics company Psyonic. The collaboration will combine Psyonic’s prosthetic hand technology with ABB’s collaborative robots to improve robotic dexterity and gripping capabilities. The initiative seeks to help robots perform more complex tasks by utilizing touch and motion data derived from human prosthetic use.

Several robotics firms, including Kawasaki Robotics, ABB Robotics, Teradyne Robotics and Fanuc America, are expected to unveil new products and AI-powered automation solutions at Automate 2026. The announcements highlight the industry’s increasing focus on physical AI, intelligent robotics and advanced automation as manufacturers seek greater productivity, flexibility and efficiency in their operations.
