TSMC’s Second-quarter Revenue Hits Record High On Strong AI Demand

The world’s largest contract chipmaker reported record second-quarter revenue, driven by strong demand for AI chips and slightly exceeding market expectations.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), the world’s largest contract chipmaker, reported a record second-quarter revenue of T$1.27 trillion (US$39.62 billion), up 36 per cent from a year earlier, as demand for artificial intelligence (AI) applications continued to increase chip orders.

According to Reuters, the April-June revenue was slightly above the T$1.264 trillion LSEG SmartEstimate compiled from 20 analysts, highlighting the sustained strength of AI-driven semiconductor demand.

TSMC, a key supplier to technology giants including Nvidia and Apple, had earlier forecast second-quarter revenue in the range of US$39 billion to US$40.2 billion, making the latest figure slightly ahead of expectations. For June alone, revenue spiked 67.9 per cent year-on-year to T$442.68 billion, while increasing 6.2 per cent from May.

The revenue announcement, originally scheduled for last Friday, was delayed after Typhoon Bavi forced financial markets in Taipei to close.

The company, valued at about US$1.96 trillion, did not provide fresh guidance in its brief revenue update. It is expected to announce its full second-quarter earnings on July 16, 2026, when it will also update its outlook for the current quarter and the remainder of the year.

According to an LSEG SmartEstimate cited by Reuters, TSMC’s second-quarter net profit is expected to rise 58.8 per cent from a year earlier. Its Taipei-listed shares have climbed 57 per cent so far this year, reflecting investor confidence in the company’s AI-led growth trajectory.
