Relux Electric is scaling its EV infrastructure business with a 500-station Tamil Nadu project and plans to deploy 20 hyper-charging stations along major intercity corridors.
Relux Electric, which entered India’s electric mobility sector in 2012, is expanding its charging infrastructure network as electric vehicle (EV) adoption accelerates across the country.
The company has partnered with Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Limited (TNGECL) to establish 500 EV charging stations across Tamil Nadu. The planned network will cover major cities, smaller towns, highways, and public institutions, with the aim of improving charging accessibility and supporting wider EV adoption.
According to Dr Karthikeyan Santharam, managing director and CEO of Relux Electric, the industry has moved beyond the stage of proving the need for charging infrastructure. The focus is now on building a reliable and connected network capable of supporting consumers and commercial fleets.
Relux is also using a franchise-led expansion model to accelerate deployment and reduce entry barriers for entrepreneurs. Under the model, the company offers a 100 per cent investment guarantee and follows a revenue-sharing structure with its partners.
The company is focusing on strategic site selection, higher asset utilisation, and renewable energy integration to improve the economics of EV charging. It also plans to commission 20 hyper-charging stations along the Delhi-Mumbai and Bengaluru-Chennai corridors over the next eight months.
Relux expects highway charging to play a key role in the electrification of commercial fleets, where shorter charging times can directly improve vehicle utilisation and operating efficiency.
The company also sees opportunities in the growing EV aftermarket, including charger installation, maintenance, diagnostics, and technician training. It is expanding training and certification initiatives through its franchise network.
Relux Electric is targeting ₹500 million in revenue in FY27, compared with its current turnover of ₹225 million. Growth is expected to come from the TNGECL project, Chennai network expansion, franchise-led deployment, and highway hyper-charging services.
The company aims to build a nationwide EV charging network increasingly powered by renewable energy by 2030.
