The company unveiled next-generation memory technologies as it looks to capitalise on booming AI infrastructure demand and strengthen long-term customer partnerships.
Samsung Electronics has unveiled a new generation of artificial intelligence (AI) memory technologies as it seeks to reinforce its leadership in the fast-growing memory chip market, where demand is increasingly being driven by AI infrastructure.
At the Future of Memory and Storage (FMS) 2026 conference in California, the company introduced its V10 Bonding V-NAND (BV-NAND) prototype and outlined its roadmap for next-generation memory products aimed at supporting AI data centres and advanced computing applications.
The launch comes as AI continues to reshape the semiconductor industry, creating sustained demand for high-performance memory despite weaker conditions in some consumer electronics segments. Samsung said its latest BV-NAND technology delivers about 58 per cent higher storage density than its previous generation, helping customers meet growing capacity and efficiency requirements.
The company also showcased early concepts for its next-generation zHBM and zNAND-O memory architectures, highlighting its long-term strategy to remain competitive in the AI memory segment. Samsung said the new technologies could significantly improve memory density, energy efficiency, and thermal performance compared with existing high-bandwidth memory (HBM) solutions.
Beyond the product announcements, Samsung highlighted the strength of AI-driven demand for memory chips. The company recently disclosed that long-term customer agreements could eventually account for 60-70 per cent of its memory business, indicating increasing visibility in future revenues as hyperscalers and AI infrastructure providers continue expanding capacity.
The announcement also comes amid investor concerns over slowing smartphone demand, particularly in China. However, analysts believe AI investments continue to outweigh weakness in traditional end markets. Citi recently noted that inventories across both DRAM and NAND supply chains remain below historical averages, suggesting healthy demand and limited oversupply.
By focusing on AI infrastructure rather than consumer devices, Samsung is positioning itself to capture long-term growth in one of the semiconductor industry’s fastest-expanding segments. The company’s latest memory roadmap underscores its strategy of combining technology innovation with long-term customer partnerships to strengthen its competitive position in the global AI memory market.
