India Chip, the HCL-Foxconn joint venture (JV), has appointed Shikhar Malhotra as its chairman. Malhotra, who also serves as chairman of HCL Capital, will oversee the company’s efforts to establish its display driver integrated circuit (DDIC) outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) facility in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh.
The company is making rapid progress towards setting up the state-of-the-art facility, which is expected to strengthen India’s semiconductor manufacturing capabilities and contribute to the development of the country’s growing semiconductor ecosystem.
The DDIC OSAT facility is part of the broader efforts by the HCL-Foxconn JV to build semiconductor manufacturing and testing capabilities in India. The project in Jewar is expected to support the domestic semiconductor supply chain and reduce dependence on overseas semiconductor packaging and testing infrastructure.
With Malhotra’s appointment as chairman, India Chip will focus on advancing the facility’s development and supporting the growth of India’s semiconductor ecosystem.
