MeitY Approves 31 Additional Proposals Under ECMS, Investing $823 Million, to Boost Electronic Manufacturing

These 31 approvals were in continuation of the 75 projects approved in March, taking the total number of approvals to 106 and total investment to $7.27 billion. The government, through ECMS, claims to push for a robust and deep-rooted ‘Swadeshi’ electronics value chain.

From subassembly segments like Camera modules, Display modules and Optical Transceiver-SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) to supply chain components like Rare-Earths Permanent Magnets, Acetylene Black, Electrolyte Additives, and Metallized Films, Ministry of Electronics and IT, announced 31 approvals for projects under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), on Monday, with a committed investment of $823 million.

These 31 approvals are in addition to 75 projects approved in March, taking the total number of approvals to 106 and total investment to $7.27 billion. Together, they are expected to create 74,628 direct jobs and 2.5 lakh indirect jobs.

These 106 approvals cover 30 products across 15 states, with 38 plants already having commenced manufacturing, while 16 projects are already at the advanced stages of construction and machinery installation.

Handing over the approvals Monday, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, said that focus was shifting from approvals to execution. “While securing approval is one thing, witnessing actual progress on the ground is paramount. That is why I always ask my team the same questions: ‘How much construction has been completed?’ and ‘Has production commenced?’” he said.

The event to handover the approvals was held in New Delhi by MietY, in collaboration with Electronic Industries Association of India (ELCINA). Along with Vaishnaw, the event was attended by Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Electronics and IT, and MeitY secretary, S. Krishnan.

MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan said ECMS was among the ministry’s fastest-moving programmes, with approval meetings held almost every week. “Both in terms of investment and output we have exceeded the original target. We are yet to reach the employability target,” he said. 

The scheme, according to Vaishnaw, is to boost the ‘Swadeshi’ electronic value chain, with production capacity now meeting the entire domestic demand. In fact, output already exceeds demand in key areas such as anode material (~110%), Optical Transceiver‑SFP (350%), and relays (200%). 

The latest batch of 31 approvals cover 20 products spanning sub-assemblies, bare components, supply chain products and capital goods.

Approvals for sub-assembly categories are as follows:

  • Display module sub-assembly approval to Minda Instrument Limited and TXB Optics Private Limited 
  • Camera module sub-assembly approval to  SkyQuad Electronics & Appliances Private Limited. 
  • Optical Transceiver-SFP approval to SFO Technologies Private Limited, GX Quantum Photonics Private Limited and Huber Suhner Electronics Private Limited.  

Approvals for ten bare components, used in manufacturing are as follows:

  • Connector approvals to Amphenol Interconnect India Private Limited, Ennovi Mobility Solutions India Private Limited and Rosenberger Interconnect India Private Limited.
  • Relays to Allied Engineering Works Limited and Gruner India Private Limited
  • Transducers to Centum Electronics Ltd and Sensata Technologies India Private Limited  
  • Filters to Centum Electronics Ltd
  • Capacitors to Globe Capacitors Private Limited 
  • Coils to Syrma SGS Technology Limited 
  • Metal Shielding Covers to Wangda Technologies Private Limited 
  • Speaker and Microphones to Brandworks Precision Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd. 
  • Antenna to Britannia RFID Technologies India Pvt. Ltd.
  • Enclosures to Micromax Precision Moulding Private Limited 

Further, approvals handed over to six essential electronic supply chain products are as follows:

  • Anode Material, a critical component for Li-ion cells, to Epsilon C2GR Private Limited
  • Rare Earth Permanent Magnets to Quantum Magnetics Private Limited 
  • Acetylene Black, a conductive additive for Li-ion cells, to PCBL Chemical Limited  
  • Electrolyte Additives to Acutaas Chemicals Limited 
  • Metallized Films for Capacitors to Capfilm India Private Limited 
  • Hermetic Terminals, critical components used to create leak-proof electrical pathways through a sealed barrier, to JJ Glastronics Private Limited.

Approvals were also granted to the following five applicants to manufacture capital goods: 

  • Jyoti CNC Automation Limited 
  • VVDN Technologies Private Limited 
  • Accurate Gauging and Instruments Pvt Ltd 
  • Mitsubishi Electric India Private Limited 
  • Ind Sphinx Precision Limited

Finally, approval was also granted to Wipro Global Engineering and Electronics Material Private Limited for an investment of approximately $108 million to manufacture Copper-Clad Laminates (CCL).

These approvals will strengthen domestic supply chains, deepen value addition, reduce import dependence, and build advanced manufacturing capabilities, further advancing India’s emergence as a global electronics manufacturing hub according to the press release issued by MeitY.

The ECMS scheme was approved by the Union cabinet on March 28, 2025, notified on April 8, 2025 with an outlay of $2.39 billion. It aims to deepen the supply chain ecosystem and develop a robust electronic manufacturing system in the country.
