Raptee.HV, Rajalakshmi Engineering College Launch EV Centre of Excellence

The facility is among the first initiatives under Raptee.HV Academy

Raptee.HV has launched a Centre of Excellence for Electric Mobility at Rajalakshmi Engineering College (REC), Chennai, marking the beginning of a long-term industry-academia partnership focused on practical learning and industry exposure in electric mobility.

The 3,000 sq ft facility was inaugurated on World EV Day by Abhay Meganathan S, Vice Chairman of Rajalakshmi Engineering College. The launch also marked the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Raptee.HV and REC to formalise their collaboration in electric mobility.

The facility is among the first initiatives under Raptee.HV Academy, the company’s programme aimed at bringing hands-on EV engineering and industry exposure to educational institutions. Built with an investment of ₹50 lakh, the lab houses a Raptee.HV T30 electric motorcycle, core EV components, a naked motorcycle equipped with digital twin technology, interactive learning modules, and dedicated areas for experimentation and prototyping.

Designed for students from Electrical, Electronics, and Automotive Engineering disciplines, the facility will provide hands-on exposure to battery packs, electric motors, power electronics, charging infrastructure, vehicle communication, and real-time diagnostics.

The partnership will also provide opportunities for industrial training, site visits, guest lectures, internships, industry-oriented courses, joint research, and faculty development. Students and faculty will be able to work on real-world EV engineering challenges and develop prototypes and industry-linked projects.

Dinesh Arjun, Co-founder and CEO, Raptee.HV, said the facility is intended to help students understand electric vehicles beyond classroom theory by giving them opportunities to work directly with EV systems, experiment with technologies, and build practical engineering skills.

Abhay Meganathan S, Vice Chairman of Rajalakshmi Engineering College, said the collaboration will give students and faculty exposure to advanced EV technologies while supporting industry-oriented projects, research, innovation, and solutions for real-world mobility challenges.

The new Centre adds to Rajalakshmi Engineering College’s research and industry-oriented infrastructure. The college currently has 15 Centres of Excellence covering areas including artificial intelligence, medical imaging, machine vision, MEMS and microfluidics, renewable energy, data science, digital manufacturing, IoT, computational fluid dynamics, and other emerging technologies.
