The collaboration also expands software support across Microchip’s automotive platforms
Elektrobit and Microchip Technology have announced a collaboration to simplify and accelerate AUTOSAR-based automotive software development for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 suppliers using Microchip’s automotive platforms.
The partnership combines Microchip’s automotive hardware platforms with Elektrobit’s AUTOSAR software, development tools and automation capabilities to help automotive manufacturers reduce software integration complexity, shorten development cycles and lower project risks.
As part of the collaboration, customers will gain access to pre-integrated AUTOSAR Microcontroller Abstraction Layer (MCAL) software based on Elektrobit’s EB tresos portfolio. The solution is designed to help development teams establish a production-ready software foundation faster and focus on application development rather than foundational software integration.
The companies are also adopting an automation-first approach, with Elektrobit using integration-as-code to convert repeatable Classic AUTOSAR integration tasks into reusable, executable logic. This approach is intended to improve development efficiency and scalability while laying the groundwork for future AI-assisted software configuration and development.
The collaboration also expands software support across Microchip’s automotive platforms. Elektrobit has enabled its EB tresos AutoCore OS and EB tresos AutoCore Generic modules on Microchip’s SAMA5 series of microprocessors, making the solution available for customer adoption. Support for additional platforms is expected to follow.
Mark Reiten, Senior Corporate Vice President of Microchip’s licensing, memory products and intelligent compute business units, said the integration of Microchip’s automotive platforms with Elektrobit’s AUTOSAR expertise and tools would help customers streamline development and move from platform evaluation to production deployment more efficiently.
Jaganathan Rajagopalan, Vice President and Head of Strategy and Portfolio at Elektrobit, said the collaboration combines established automotive software foundations with ready-to-use hardware support to help manufacturers bring software-defined vehicle innovations to market faster while reducing development costs and integration complexity.
The companies plan to focus their initial market activities on high-growth automotive segments in Asia, including the two-wheeler market, while also pursuing broader automotive opportunities across Asia and North America.
