Wednesday, July 10, 2013: The veterans from the electrical, electronics, renewable, lighting and power industries—the Regnant Group and the-Unitop Group—have joined hands and formed a new company called Alva Lighting, with the aim to make technology available to the end consumer at affordable price.

With the second generation of both the groups at the helm of this new initiative, Alva Lighting plans to be at the forefront of innovation and design in the field of eco-friendly technologies. Says its chief operating officer Rishab Sood, who is also director, operations, Regnant Group, “At the core of the business philosophy that drives Alva are the principles of energy efficiency and the conservation of the earth’s natural resources, and we aim to be present in a variety of businesses in these areas.”

The initial focus of this initiative is on LED lighting, and Alva is drawing up plans to make deep inroads in the Indian market initially through its network of dealers, distributors and retailers. “Alva Lighting aims to act as a catalyst in spreading LED lighting technology among the masses by minimising the price barriers that exist currently, and by leveraging its global network of suppliers and its R&D expertise,” adds Alva’s chief marketing officer, Ujjwal Raheja, who is also director, sales and marketing of Unitop Group.

Alva has set up a new plant at Rudrapur in Uttarakhand, to manufacture commercial lighting products. “To start with, we will assemble all the components at this factory and then gradually get all the components manufactured in-house,” informs Raheja. The plant, with a capacity of 3000 pieces a day, will start operations in August.

“With a steadfast vision, enterprising efforts, impeccable planning and a humungous appetite for success, we plan to plant a very big foot in the lighting market and make energy-efficient LED lighting a necessity rather than a luxury,” says Sood.

Alva, with its offices in Delhi, Noida, Rudrapur and now a newly launched commercial outlet in old Delhi, will focus on delivering quality and cost-efficient goods to the end consumer. “We strive to use our decades of experience in this field to come up with new and innovative products that will satisfy the customer’s needs at every step,” points out Raheja.
