Wednesday, September 04, 2013: The Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Limited (APTransco) has announced that the solar developers can submit their applications before 30 September. This announcement is applicable for those developers as well, who were not a part of the recent competitive bidding for 1,000 Mw.
Suresh Chandra, chairman and managing director of APTransco, reviewed the progress of solar projects and informed that the corporation has issued guidelines for solar developers to apply along with non-refundable processing fee of Rs 2,00,000 to execute solar projects at a fixed tariff of Rs 6.49 per unit for a period of 20 years.
According to a Business Standard report, Chandra said, “Totally, 109 substations were offered under this open offer. However, the solar developers will also be allowed to connect to any other substations in the state, subject to technical feasiblity.”
Chandra emphasised that this decision will provide an opportunity to those developers who could not participate in the bidding process of the tender issued earlier. It is noteworthy that the state government had formed a solar power policy for providing a boost to solar power projects under captive and third-party sale. APTransco and other related distribution companies are working for issuing the technical feasibility clearances commissioned under this policy, stated the BS report.
The state has already made sanctions to approximately 1,200 Mw for grid connectivity and has also directed APTransco to facilitate setting up of 1,000 Mw solar power plants through the competitive bidding route.
