Thursday, July 17, 2014: IT minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy on Tuesday informed that govt’s new IT policy would attract large scale investments which is soon to be announced.
The priority would be, single clearance for the new units within the period of four weeks, based on Gujarat model and special measures to make Visakhapatnam IT capital of Andhra Pradesh.
Reddy is a strong believer that these policies would grant deemed approved status to the new ventures, if clearance is not provided within four weeks. Post-bifurcation, Visakhapatnam was said to become IT capital due to its location.
In addition to Visakhapatnam, IT hubs would be soon developed at many locations including Vijayawada, Kakinada, Tirupati and Anantpur. Earlier, Reddy visited Rushikonda IT park along with HRD minister, Ganta Srinivasa Rao, advisor to the government on IT, J. Satyanarayana, principal secretary, industries, J.S.V Prasad and others.
He also pointed out that IT turnover from Telangana, Hyderabad stood at $9128 million against $283 million from entire AP. Bifurcation has caused many challenges which must be converted into opportunities. He also said that they are expecting special state status and special package which was promised to them in Reorganisation act.
Stating strict action for those IT companies who failed to create jobs after acquiring lands, he said that they received proposals from Wipro and Tech Mahindra to create 7,000 and 5,000 jobs respectively in Visakhapatnam. The government is said to receive proposals including a $16.50 million investment for R&D campus of SAMEER(Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering & Research).
