In May 2014, Base Batteries launched the Base Tuff BT 500 tall tubular batteries for home UPS systems. These tubular batteries are supposedly the most energy efficient backup units designed to protect homes from the inconvenience caused by power outages, minimise energy consumption and help consumers cut down on electricity bills. The tall container allows for a greater amount of electrolyte, which reduces maintenance and increases battery life even in tough power conditions. The BT series is environment-friendly and free from acid fumes. It has a water level indicator and a special tubular positive-plate design for long life in the deep discharge cycle.
