The National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi has installed solar power plant to illuminate the whole campus spread over 63 acres of land.
A 100 Kilo Watt solar power plant has been installed in NUSRL campus which is spread over 63 acres of land. The university has become first law university in the country to extensively depend on solar energy. The plant was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Wednesday.
“With this NUSRL, Ranchi becomes first National Law University among a total of 19 in the Country to have functional solar power plant minimizing the dependency of electricity in the campus,” said Satya Kumar, Public Relation Officer.
University encouraged this concept by keeping several benefits like cost-effectiveness, eco-friendly approach and diverse application use in mind. Two units of 100 KVA solar plants were installed in a record time of one and half month by the State Government. Each of this solar plant have been installed in the girls and boys hostel reducing the dependency on power grid as it will automatically switch over to solar power once the battery gets fully charged.
“These solar plants are enough to illuminate more than 300 rooms in both the girls and boys hostel giving a respite to the students from frequent power cuts,” said the Managing Director of Jharkhand Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd (JREDA) Niranjan Kumar.
According to Niranjan Kumar, around 1.16 crore were spent on this project which was fully funded by the State Government. The solar panel system is set to be linked to a centralized electrical substation for a collective solar coverage, informed an NUSRL official.
