His company, Essential, plans to finish the first prototype of the device by the end of the year

Essential, the consumer electronics startup run by Android creator Andy Rubin, is reportedly working on development of an AI-powered smartphone that will try to mimic the user and automatically respond to emails and text messages. Besides, it will be capable of booking appointments by itself.
The planned device, which will run on Essential’s artificial-intelligence software, may not look like a standard smartphone. It would have a small screen and require users to interact mainly using voice commands, according to a Bloomberg report.
The company is said to have put most projects aside to focus on the new project. It plans to finish the first prototype of the device by the end of the year and show it to the industry partners at the Consumer Electronics Show in Los Angeles January next year.
AI is the new trend in the market, and the planned device if developed successfully could be another major breakthrough in the technology sector.
Some of the key areas phone makers are currently working on AI technology are camera benefits, language translator, user behaviour, improved security, voice assistants.
