Okinawa Discontinues Lead-Acid Battery Pack Based E-Scooters

Electric-scooter manufacturer Okinawa announced the discontinuation of its lead-acid product portfolio. It said in a statement that it will be focusing only on lithium-ion versions.

It had started with lead-acid scooter Okinawa Ridge and launched four lead-acid scooters in three years. Then it introduced the lithium-ion detachable battery-equipped e-scooter versions.

100 per cent lithium-ion battery pack-based two-wheelers

Jeetender Sharma, MD and founder, Okinawa, said. that the company is to 100 per cent lithium-ion battery pack-based two-wheelers. When it launched the brand, lead acid was the most advanced option available in the market. He added that the company taken a step ahead and have discontinued lead-acid battery pack-based products. Not only will Okinawa products be equipped with lithium-ion battery packs offering efficiency, but they will also come with detachable batteries ensuring convenience to the users.

Okinawa claims to retail over 34,000 units of lead acid-based products in India. A statement by the company said that has sold over 74,500 plus units and plans to target selling around 90,000 units by the fiscal end.
