Global semiconductor sales reached $110.5 billion in April 2026, marking a 93.9% increase from the same month a year earlier and an 11% rise compared with March, according to figures released by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA).

The industry body also endorsed the latest forecast from the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organisation, which projects worldwide semiconductor revenue will grow by 90% to reach $1.5 trillion in 2026. Annual sales are expected to exceed $1.9 trillion in 2027.

The April figures, calculated as a three-month moving average by WSTS, indicate continued momentum across major semiconductor markets. Monthly global sales rose from $99.5 billion in March to $110.5 billion in April, extending the industry’s month-on-month growth streak to 14 consecutive months.

According to SIA President and Chief Executive Officer John Neuffer, demand linked to artificial intelligence infrastructure and advanced computing platforms continues to support industry expansion.

“Meanwhile, the global semiconductor industry is projected to hit $1.5 trillion in sales in 2026, reaching that milestone earlier than previously expected, fuelled by increasing demand for AI infrastructure and accelerated computing platforms,” he said.

Regional data showed strong annual growth across all major markets. Sales in the Americas more than doubled, increasing 115.8% year-on-year (YoY) to $39.4 billion. Asia Pacific and other markets recorded growth of 114.9%, while China expanded by 78.6%. Europe reported a 54.7% increase and Japan posted growth of 15.6%.

Compared with March, sales rose across every major region. The Americas recorded the strongest monthly increase at 16.7%, followed by Asia Pacific and other markets at 8.7%, China at 8%, Europe at 6.7%, and Japan at 6.4%.

Longer-term trends also remained positive. The three-month moving average for global sales increased by 38.8% between the November 2025–January 2026 period and the February–April 2026 period, rising from $79.6 billion to $110.5 billion.

Neuffer said that as the semiconductor market continues to expand, supportive policies will be important to ensure that countries capture future growth, innovation opportunities, and associated economic benefits.
