The facility is to manufacture vacuum and abatement systems which are used in the global manufacturing of semiconductors.
Part of the Atlas Copco Group, the Edwards’ facilities in Cheonan, South Korea; will have a new inclusion of a 15,000m2 factory. Due to open in July 2023, this factory manufactures dry vacuum pumps for the semiconductor industry.
Supporting the growth of the global semiconductor industry, the new factory will be situated in Asan City, located in the Chungcheongnam-do province. This investment would help in increasing the supply chain capacity.
“This new investment shows our continued commitment to supporting our customers with future innovation and growth in the semiconductor industry in Korea and beyond,” said Geert Follens, Business Area President Vacuum Technique.
CSK and Edwards brands are said to benefit the maximum as the facility would also manufacture abatement and liquid delivery systems, as well as the integrated vacuum and abatement systems used in the manufacturing of the most advanced semiconductor components. The factory is expected to be fully operational during Q3 of 2023.
