Top 10 T&M brands available in India

By Richa Chakravarty

Monday, October 06, 2014: The forecast for the Asia-Pacific test and measurement (T&M) device market is a CAGR of 7.4 per cent till 2020. Domestic T&M players are also hopeful of good business in the coming years.

Ranking the top T&M brands available in India is a challenge as each company has its own strengths and is a leader in a specific domain within the T&M space. While Keysight Technologies (formerly known as Agilent Technologies) is a leader in the aerospace, defence, wireless, semiconductor and automotive domains, Anritsu Pte Ltd India and Rohde & Schwarz lead in telecom and wireless as well as in communication, with Tektronix leading in oscilloscopes. Then there is Fluke Corporation, which leads in multimeters, and Goodwill, which is a strong player in the educational sector.

Here, we have ranked the firms on the basis of their revenues for the FY 2012-13.

While some players witnessed a huge jump in their revenues, others registered only marginal growth, being dependent on the growth of the sector they specialise in.

While most of the players like Keysight Technologies and Rohde & Schwarz have retained their market rankings, Rishabh Instruments jumped a position higher taking the third slot. Meco Instruments too moved a position higher, ranking ninth in the list, while Qmax Test Equipment moved two positions lower.

While most of the companies listed in the ranking are exclusively into T&M equipment, some of them are into multiple businesses with T&M being their major business, like Aplab, for instance. We have ranked the companies that manufacture T&M equipment in India and overseas, and whose brands are popular in India.

Please note, the revenue figures of some of the companies are just a part of their total turnover in India, as commissions achieved on sales of their products overseas are not included in this figure, or a part of their billing is not done in INR. Many companies could not be ranked as their revenue figures are not accessible. These companies also refused to share this data with us. Revenue figures have been procured from the website of the ministry of corporate affairs (MCA), Government of India, and verified by the companies. Some figures have been provided by the companies themselves.
