Finding skilled labour is a real concern for electronics manufacturing industry in the country. To ensure that there is some skill sharing experience, Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers Association (IEEMA) has tied hands with South African Electrotechnical Export Council (SAEEC) which would transfering of skills between these two nations.
During a recent interaction between these two associations in Cape Town, the two parties have decided to sign a memorendum of understanding (MoU) which will help them in sharing skill development between these tow nations in the areas of electronics, information technology and telecommunications.
The size of the Indian electrical equipment industry in 2014/15 was in excess of $25-billion, with exports of $5.6-billion. The industry provided direct and indirect employment to over 1.5-million people.
Many industry experts have raised this concern that as India gears up towards becomming a electronics manufacturing driven nation, there will always be concern of availablity of skilled labours. The central government as well state governments are working with different bodies and organisations to address this issue.
This deal between IEEMA and SAEEC will ensure that there will be skill sharing which happens between Indian and South African companies.
