Reliance Jio Crosses 250 Million Subscribers Mark

The last quarter as per Reliance Jio witnessed a net addition of 37 million subscribers, which is the highest in any quarter since the launch of its commercial services

Reliance Jio announced that it has crossed the 250 million subscribers mark within 25 months from commencement of its services. The press release issued by Jio also claims the average amount of data consumed by a user to be 11GB per month. The average voice consumption stands at 761 minutes per user.

Mukesh D. Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director, Reliance Industries Limited said: “Jio was conceived with a mission to connect everyone and everything, everywhere – always at the highest quality and the most affordable price. We, at Jio, are glad about our progress towards our mission with more than 250 million subscribers on our network within 25 months of commencement of services. We are making rapid progress on the growth of our digital platforms, across new commerce, media and entertainment, agriculture, education, healthcare and financial services, which will further enhance the quality of life and productivity of the people of India.”

TRAI report stats

As per a report published by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on 31st August 2018, the top five Wireless Broadband Service providers were Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (239.23 million), Bharti Airtel (96.12 million), Vodafone (51.25 million), Idea Cellular (44.24 million) and BSNL (11.19 million).

Reliance has said that the lower upfront commitment, JioPhone Monsoon Hungama offer (by Reliance Retail) along with exchange policy has accelerated the customer uptake. Claiming a gross addition of 41.7 million subscribers and a churn of 4.7 million subscribers, Jio said that it has the lowest churn rate of 0.66% per month in the industry.

The last quarter as per Jio witnessed a net addition of 37 million subscribers, which is the highest in any quarter since the launch of its commercial services.

Mr Mukesh Ambani further said, “We have enabled our customers to adopt the digital life, with record consumption of data and use of digital services. Our next generation FTTH and enterprise services are now being made available to our customers to further enhance our value proposition to our customers.”

TRAI’s MySpeed Analytics app has ranked Reliance Jio as the fastest network over last 20 months. The average download speed that Jio offers per user has been estimated at 20.6 Mbps during September 2018 by TRAI.

Keeping future growth in mind Reliance Jio is further working on its commitment to connect 50 million homes with JioGigaFiber in the shortest possible time informed the press release.
