Agnikul Cosmos Partners With ICEYE To Evaluate Sovereign SAR Satellite Systems

The agenda of this partnership is to combine satellite manufacturing, responsive launch capabilities, and SAR technology to make India’s space and earth observation ecosystem stronger.

Agnikul Cosmos has recently signed a deal with Finland-based satellite operator ICEYE to evaluate the development, launch, and operation of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) earth observation systems from India.

The partnership will focus on opportunities to combine ICEYE’s expertise in SAR satellite technology and satellite manufacturing with Agnikul’s end-to-end responsive launch capabilities, to build sovereign earth observation infrastructure for India and global customers.

“Previously, building and launching a satellite system privately in India mostly meant piecing together foreign technology and waiting on timelines that we as a nation did not control,” said Srinath Ravichandran, Co-founder and CEO of Agnikul Cosmos. “This collaboration has an agenda to change that equation. Applications such as disaster response, sensitive area monitoring and security are national priorities, and India deserves sovereign capabilities to support them.”

The partnership expands beyond a single satellite mission and want to establish an integrated ecosystem covering satellite manufacturing, launch services, and operations.

For ICEYE, the agreement aligns with its plans to expand its presence in India, which it views as a strategic manufacturing hub for serving both domestic and international markets.

Partnerships built around speed, reliability and long-term execution are becoming increasingly important, and this is what we seek to build with Agnikul,” said Rafał Modrzewski, Co-founder and CEO of ICEYE.

The partnership strengthens Agnikul’s portfolio of international collaborations across India, the Middle East, and Australia as the company pursues its ambition of becoming a global space transportation provider.

Under the collaboration, Agnikul will contribute its launch infrastructure built around single-piece 3D-printed rocket engines designed to reduce manufacturing timelines, while ICEYE will provide its proven SAR satellite technology. Together, the companies aim to establish a scalable model for sovereign space-based intelligence capabilities originating from India.

The announcement was made at BharatInnovates in Nice, France, where Agnikul participated as the only Indian launch vehicle company showcasing its reusable rocket technology during the event attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron.
