Altano Energy has recently announced a partnership with Exus. The announcement was made while completing dual 64MW solar plants in Puertollano, Spain.
These new solar facilities have created 83,230MWh of clean energy, enough to provide power to more than 28,000 households.
Altano Energy’s Puertollano and El Villar solar plants, now fully operational, have significantly impacted the energy landscape in the area. These projects and the existing 60MW hydroelectric generation mark a crucial step in Altano Energy’s ongoing expansion efforts. Currently, Altano Energy has approximately 200MW of wind, solar, and hybrid projects at various stages of construction in the region.
Exus Management Partners (Exus) has played a pivotal role in providing comprehensive asset management services to Altano Energy. Their involvement encompasses overseeing project construction and managing the successful integration of these projects into the grid.
Puertollano and El Villar solar plants have met and exceeded their initial energy generation projections, boasting an impressive performance index of 83 per cent. Inigo Sanchez-Junco, Altano Energy’s COO, expressed pride in reaching this significant milestone, emphasizing the strategic importance of these projects in enhancing their asset portfolio.
The collaboration with Exus has been instrumental, offering technical expertise and proficient management to ensure optimal performance, efficiency, and risk mitigation for Altano Energy’s investments. Natalia Ordoñez, Exus’ Development and Construction Director for Europe, highlighted their integrated approach, which facilitates a seamless transition from construction to operation, ensuring operational excellence and timely project completion.
The successful launch of both Puertollano plants reinforces Spain’s position in expanding renewable energy sources, aligning with the government’s ambitious goal of achieving 160GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. Additionally, the Castilla-La Mancha region continues to lead Spain in installed PV power capacity, substantially contributing to the country’s clean energy portfolio.
The successful operation of these solar plants significantly enhances the clean energy landscape and underscores the region’s dedication to renewable energy sources. With 83 per cent of its total power generation coming from clean sources, the region surpasses the national average by more than 20 per cent.
