Wednesday, April 30, 2014: After conquering the market in India, Amaron Automotive batteries, manufactured by Amara Raja Batteries Ltd (ARBL), is now looking to expand its reach in the Sri Lankan market. The company currently enjoys a market leadership in the neighbouring country in the ‘maintenance free’ automotive battery segment, with 10 per cent of the market share. Amaron now plans to expand its reach and distribution further, said Rajesh Jindal, vice president and chief marketing officer, and Gamini Rathnayake, chairman and managing director of Samudhi Group of Companies, authorised distributor for Amaron in Sri Lanka.
Amaron batteries are currently distributed through 250 dealers across Sri Lanka. According to a Lanka Business Today report, speaking about the company’s growth plans, Jindal said, “We see significant growth potential for Amaron as the Sri Lankan vehicle market continues to expand. We will look to leverage on the brand’s strong performance both in India and Sri Lanka to further extend our reach to consumers here. Expanding our dealer network through Samudhi and offering new products to the Sri Lankan market will take the center stage in our country strategy.”
Adding to it, Rathnayake stated that the battery brand has seen a stable growth over the years courtesy the low maintenance and the 60 month warranty being offered to the customers. He said that the company is now looking to have an increased sales of up to 40 per cent by end 2015.
