Friday, September 12, 2014: The Andhra Pradesh government has released a broad electronics policy for capturing huge portion of electronics market, to meet its demand of attaining USD 400 billion by 2020.
According to GO MS No 16 which was released on 9 September summarizing the new electronics policy, the state government has planned to set up 20 electronics manufacturing clusters (EMCs), for success of which it is putting all possible efforts to attract investment of around 300,000 million within next five years.
With a vision for Information Technology and Investment Region (ITIR) and mega electronics hub in Vizag, the state government has decided to reserve two clusters in this region exclusively for development of electronics hub.
Centre announced that the electronics hardware park would be established in Kakinada. The state government emphasized over setting up an effective infrastructure for proper connectivity and supply. Few of the major areas in electronics sector involve fabless semiconductors, LED, smart meters, mobile, FPD TVs, tablets, base stations, smartcards, sensors, IOT.
Government also mentioned about an annual mega electronics event in the state which will be organised with assistance of industries to attract investments. They have also planned for road shows to be taken up in United States, Japan, Germany, Korea, Taiwan and China.
The AP government is looking forward to set up electronics bazaar at Vizag, Vijayawada and Tirupati, conserding them to be hub for the electronic products in state. They have also planned for proper market access in all departments so that the domestic manufacturers are benefitted.
The Central government looks forward to online marketing campaigns to make ‘Advantage AP’ a globally renowned brand by highlighting the advantages with comparison to other cities.
