As per the latest reports, Apple has started manufacturing iPhone 14 in India. Foxconn’s Sriperumbudur facility situated on the outskirts of Chennai is the manufacturing location. It has been learnt that by 2025, the tech giant wants to shift 25 per cent of its entire iPhone production line to India.
It is noteworthy that with the initiation of local manufacturing of iPhone 14, Apple will save close to 20 per cent on import duty.
Aligning with the Union government’s push for local manufacturing and the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme, apple has come up with this strategy. In a media statement, the company expressed its excitement for embarking on this new journey with Foxconn, while further adding: “The new iPhone 14 lineup introduces groundbreaking new technologies and important safety capabilities.”
It must be noted that the company already makes various iPhone models like iPhone 13, iPhone 12, and iPhone SE in India, while working with its partners, i.e., Wistron, Foxconn, and Pegatron, to assemble iPhone models in the country.
