The Eight70 Warranty provides protection for either eight years or 80,000 kilometres, depending on which limit is reached first.
Electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy introduced the Eight70 Warranty for its Ather 450 series and Rizta scooters in partnership with Reliance General Insurance. This warranty is designed to provide long-term battery health assurance and address the primary concerns of electric vehicle (EV) buyers. The Eight70 Warranty covers the scooters for up to eight years or 80,000 kilometres, whichever occurs first, ensuring a minimum of 70% battery health throughout the term. It includes comprehensive coverage for manufacturing defects and failures without an upper limit on claim amounts, and it protects against battery discharge issues caused by prolonged periods of inactivity.
Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy, emphasized that battery durability is a significant factor for EV purchasers. The Eight70 Warranty aims to alleviate customer concerns about the longevity and potential replacement costs of electric scooter batteries by guaranteeing 70% battery health for up to eight years.
Reliance General Insurance CEO Rakesh Jain commented on the collaboration with Ather, noting it reflects a shared commitment to offering long-term protection to EV owners and bolstering confidence in the EV market, thereby promoting sustainable mobility.
The Eight70 Warranty is an optional three-year addition to the existing five-year warranty available under Ather’s pro-pack. It costs Rs 4,999, inclusive of GST, and is available to customers who choose the pro-pack option, enhancing the ownership experience for Ather’s EV enthusiasts.
Ather’s product offerings include the 450 series, aimed at performance enthusiasts with models like the 450X, 450S, and 450 Apex, and the Rizta, which targets family-oriented users and was launched earlier this year.
