Ola’s Krutrim partners with Arm and Untether to manufacture AI silicon chips, with plans to integrate them into electric scooters.
Krutrim, the AI startup founded by Ola’s Bhavish Aggarwal, announced plans on Thursday to release its first AI chip, Bodhi 1, by 2026, followed by Bodhi 2 in 2028.
The company will forge strategic partnerships with ARM for chip design and with Canadian AI company Untether AI to build the chips.
This chip will be integrated into Ola’s electric scooters, enabling the development of faster and more efficient AI systems.
The company is also developing three other chips—Bodhi 2, Sarv 1, and Ojas—and has formed partnerships with global semiconductor firms Arm and Untether AI for the development of CPUs, AI chips, and related platforms.
Further, to support the company’s AI and cloud initiatives, Krutrim will scale up its data centre capacity to a massive 1 GW by 2028.
Krutrim also unveiled the Krutrim cloud with AI, general-purpose capabilities, and a wide range of purpose-built AI services for the developer community to build products. It has made these data centre services worth $1 billion entirely free for developers and enterprises until Diwali.
Besides, it announced free access to cloud services for users of the ONDC platform for one full year. To encourage startups with innovative ideas, the company launched the ‘Krutrim for Startups’ Udaan program with Rs 50 lakh for the first cohort of startups in partnership with investors Z47 (formerly Matrix Partners India), DeVC, and South Park Commons.
