Orders aligning with India’s self-reliant initiative have boosted BEL’s order book for the current financial year to Rs 18,298 crore.
Navratna company Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL) has secured orders totaling Rs 3,915 crore for supplying various defense equipment. These orders align with India’s self-reliant initiative, supporting the nation’s push for indigenously developed defense technology.
The Indian Army has placed an order worth Rs 580 crore for artificial magnetic conductors used in radars. BEL has, additionally, received orders worth Rs 3,335 crore for a range of equipment, including the airborne early warning and control system, uncooled thermal imaging sights, software-defined radios, short-wave infrared payload, integrated air command and control system, and passive night vision binoculars.
The company’s order book for the current financial year now stands at Rs 18,298 crore. This includes orders worth Rs 3,000 crore received in September for various defense equipment, with a significant portion (Rs 2,118.6 crore) coming from Cochin Shipyard Ltd.
In August, the Defence Acquisition Council approved the procurement and installation of electronic warfare suites on Mi-17 V5 helicopters from BEL. Following these developments, BEL’s shares saw a rise of 2.73% to Rs 156.15 apiece on the NSE, outperforming the benchmark Nifty 50’s 0.4% gain.
