Tuesday, July 23, 2013: The Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has now won two major contracts from NTPC, concerning the grid connected solar power plants with a 10 MW capacity each. The total value of the contracts have been calculated to be around Rs 1320 million and BHEL will be responsible for setting up the solar plants – one at Talcher, Odisha and the other at Unchahar in Uttar Pradesh.
The scope of work for BHEL involves designing, manufacturing, supply, operation, installation and maintenance of the plants for the first one year. Apart from this, BHEL has also commenced supplies to both the power plants. The first consignment included SPV modules that were flagged off at the Bengaluru division of BHEL yesterday.
Each of the concerned solar plants will comprise of SPV modules, which would be manufactured using Mono crystalline Silicon Photovoltaic (C-SI PV) technology, which is used all over the world and is one of the most efficient and long run operational experiences.
The megawatt sized solar plants by BHEL in Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Karnataka are already contributing significantly to the National Solar Mission. There are other solar PV power systems installed by BHEL in Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chattisgarh, West Bengal, Jharkhand and other placed which have been proving their worth sufficiently and enhancing eco friendly power use.
