BSNL has revised the charge for GSM SIM replacement for its existing customers. Now to replace your defective or lost GSM prepaid or post-paid SIM, you have to pay more. While earlier the price was Rs 50 for prepaid, the company has hiked the cost for replacement of a 2G normal SIM, for you have to spend Rs 100 and for a 3G USIM 128 KB you need to pay Rs 139.
The prices are inclusive of all taxes. This price is also applicable in case you are migrating to 3G USIM from 2G SIM.
All other terms and conditions remain the same i.e. you have to submit photocopy of ID card and address proof etc. The new revision has been applicable since 19.11.2012 and on all telecom circles.
BSNL has been blamed for inefficient and poor quality services in the country. Many people have jumped the company’s wagon, tired of waiting for things to improve. The operator has been regularly caught in various consumer related complaints, which has lead to many subscribers shifting to private companies like Airtel, Vodafone and Idea.
