Friday, May 24, 2013: According to chairman of Titan Energy System, Rao S.Y.S. Chodagam, the Chinese solar photovoltaic module manufacturers are looking to form an association with Indian manufacturers and use the local manufacturing capacity to cater to the global needs.
As many countries are planning to levy anti-dumping duties on Chinese solar PV products, they are looking forward to get associated with Indian manufacturing companies and cater to global markets, said Rao.
Rao told that several Chinese companies have approached them and offered partnership opportunity to grow mutually beneficial business. Their need for partnership is governed by inability to sell Chinese products in the global market owing to various curbs, and thus they see Indian association as a mutually beneficial approach.
While speaking at a solar PV event in Andhra earlier, Rao said that they have been receiving ongoing queries into the dumping related issues since November 2012.
Rao told that the negotiations are going about setting up a 50-MW solar PV farm in the State as an EPC contractor and a supplier of modules. “Within next 2-3 months, we will be able to finalise plans,” he added.
Speaking about AP Government’s move to offer Rs 6.49 per unit for solar PV farms under the State policy bids, he said it was not ‘practical as companies are not likely to opt for this price tag.
