BSNL, Niti Aayog and CISCO collaboration will help India to grow its ecosystem of talent, entrepreneurship and innovation
Chuck Robbins, CEO at Cisco met Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his three-day visit to India. He signed agreements with state-run telecom firm Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and country’s planning panel National Institution for Transforming India or Niti Aayog. They discussed various aspects relating to technology as well as innovation.
The US-based firm signed two agreements with Niti Aayog and BSNL under the aegis of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in the presence of Aruna Sundararajan, Telecom Secretary. The partnership will set up a location to demonstrate use cases using 5G to solve citizen problems in areas such as education, healthcare and agriculture using technologies such as IoT, surveillance and Artificial Intelligence.

It was also claimed that the agreements with BSNL and DoT will involve showcasing and demonstrating possibilities of 5G. The services will especially be used to solve citizens’ problems and deliver services in areas such as agriculture and education.
Cisco works with countries across the world to accelerate existing government goals for driving economic growth through high-tech innovation under the company’s Country Digital Acceleration or CDA program.
Cisco also signed an agreement with Niti Aayog to connect all 100 Atal Incubation Centres in the country. The company will equip them with its conferencing platforms like Webex Teams and Cisco Webex Board. Robin also commented that the signing of the pact will help India to grow its ecosystem of talent, entrepreneurship, innovation and will ultimately drive economic growth.
