Stepping into semiconductor manufacturing and OSAT, Colab Platforms is targeting booming demand in India and future tech sovereignty with a new subsidiary.
Colab Platforms Ltd has announced plans to set up a fully owned subsidiary focused on semiconductor manufacturing and outsourced semiconductor assembly and testing (OSAT) in India. The company revealed the move in a regulatory disclosure on Friday.
The new unit, named Colab Semiconductor Pvt Ltd, will support India’s drive to build a domestic chip supply chain. It said that the semiconductor transition offers a long runway for business expansion and value creation.
As per reports, the initiative marks the company’s entry into one of the country’s most strategically important technology sectors.
Colab Platforms believes India’s chip market is on the brink of strong growth. Industry projections indicate that the market could rise from US$52 billion in 2024–25 to US$108 billion by 2030. That would represent a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of about 15 per cent. The firm aims to capture a share of this growth as global companies diversify supply networks.
Puneet Singh, Managing Director of Colab Platforms, said the development fits the company’s strategy of investing in fast-growing digital and manufacturing technologies. He stressed that semiconductors are critical to technology sovereignty and future economic competitiveness. He also said that Colab intends to build long-term capabilities as the national infrastructure for electronics expands.
The decision follows a series of investments by Colab Platforms in next-generation technologies. Over recent years, the company has ventured into artificial intelligence, fintech, drones, blockchain solutions, and gaming. It also recently created Colab Intelligence Private Limited to lead its AI initiatives.
Company officials said that the semiconductor business will complement the existing portfolio. They expect the expansion to support job creation and higher-value manufacturing within India. The firm has not yet disclosed the planned scale of investment or production timelines but indicated that further details will be shared as the project progresses.
Colab Platforms also plans to participate actively in this national push toward an advanced electronics ecosystem.
